A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN OKLAHOMA CITY,OK

A complete surprise was the massive National Cowboy & Western Museum in OK City,Oklahoma today for our final tour stop. Even if we had the hours of free time, we are coming close to our museum limits for the week.
Bringing a true cowboy home, however, may be another story!

But the truly BEST stop, and very unplanned, was the Oklahoma City/National Memorial and Museum in downtown Oklahoma City which memorializes the 1995 tragedy. On a gorgeous sunny Saturday afternoon, our brief stop allowed us to take in the pool, chairs, children's wall and survivor tree of the outdoor and symbolic memorial.

Our Thoughts & Prayers are with our Hoosier Family

Hearing of ravaging storms and damaging tornadoes that touched down in southern Indiana yesterday afternoon laid heavy on our hearts.
One traveler in particular, Hazel, has family members living in Henryville and we pray that they are safe.

TEXAS INDEPENDANCE DAY

On this Day in History:
1793 Former Governor Sam (Remember the Alamo) Houston's birthday
1861 State of Texas secedes from the Union against objections from Gov Houston

We enjoyed a mid-day stop in Austin,TX and The Bob Bullock State History Museum. The mid 80-degrees treated us to sit on a 2nd floor lunch patio after we'd toured the 3 story museum and the Texas Spirit Theatre (as well as the 300 school children).

A PROUD HERITAGE

I'm not sure where to begin on this day packed fulled of such rich history, but we ended our 3-day tour of San Antonio at The Alamo, shown above.
Visitors to the iconic downtown site may pick their own path through the shrine's history.
Almost 1 year ago on March 6, 2011, the Alamo marked the 175th anniversary of the legendary 1836 Battle of the Alamo. The defenders, with such famous names such as Jim Bowie, Davey Crockett and William B Travis, fought bravely along with less than 200 men against the Mexican army until being overcome.
Today, the Alamo is the state's top visitor attraction and is operated by the The Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

THANK YOU BARBARA FROM DIAMOND TOURS

Our Destination manager from Diamond Tours, Barbara, showed TRUE southern hospitality to the High Street Travelers Group. A package company such as Diamond assists in putting the entire travel itinerary and trip together along with the local travel escort.
I am so glad we had Barbara in San Antonio looking after us and taking excellent care of 6 motor coaches in town. She was a busy lady for 3 days, but we were in good hands.

Thank You again, Barbara. Y'all showed us a GREAT time and you make Diamond Tours proud!!
